It's about time something like this came along. I mean, erotica is great, and my first genre of choice in this instance, but this could definitely fill a void in the blind community, particularly for those who once had sight or who don't like to read.

I looked at the site, and it appears to be descriptions of previews, and a few clips, such as you'd find on pornTube. Of course, I can't do descriptions, but I've been collecting porn for years. I download the movies, then strip the video out, making mp3 files out of them. I do my best to find ones with no music and plenty of dialog. My goal has been to make the porn available for blind people, without them having to pay for a site, or download huge movies when all they really want is to hear the sounds and get off. I'm finding, however, this has actually made me seem more of a freak than a help, so I'm beginning to get away from it now.

If I want a little fun, I will do it with my husband.

Post 10 by Eleni21 (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Monday, 18-Jan-2010 22:00:13

Oh no! I hope you don't get away from it completely. It sounds like a fabulous idea, especially since there are good films with dialogue. I haven't been able to find any cause most are just sounds and clips and stuff. No plot. the ones on blowfish.com sound great but you have to buy them. Btw, that site has some absolutely incredible toys and the descriptions of their items are the best I've ever seen.

Post 11 by gizmobear (move over school!) on Wednesday, 20-Jan-2010 9:50:35

i wonder if some company actualy made quality descrptive porn for the blind. how many of us would make purchases? what would you like the porn to have? music? a plot? a male or female voice describing it? what tone of vouce would make the best? what exactley would you want described?

Try reading Beaut's Punishment, Beauty's Release, and...damn! Can't think of the other in that series. A total sexual retelling of the old kids tale of sleeping beauty and yes, its highly descriptive and available from NLS. Get this. Its written, under a different name she uses, by the same Anne McCaffrey that writes Dragonriders fantasy. I don't know how she spells it, Rocalore or something, but go to your local NLS library site and type in one of the titles and its there. I've read all three.

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty. I think she wrote it under Anne Rice or Anne Rampling.

In our modern age, technology has made it so that the visually impaired are able to partake in many of the same activities as anyone else. Text-to-speech programs, which narrate a website, make it easy to browse the web. There are even screen-readers that can “intelligently” interpret structures and frames online. But what about more private matters, such as watching porn? Recently, the non-profit organization Porn for the Blind (www.pornfortheblind.org) has been getting a lot of attention for its attempt to accommodate the visually impaired’s sex drives. The website describes itself as “a not-for-profit organization dedicated to producing audio descriptions of sample movie clips from adult web sites. This service is provided free of charge.” The simple layout consists of a white background with a list of links to mp3 sound clips, with names like “straightboysfucking.com” and “cumoverload.”

Here’s how the website works. You can “help out” by clicking on a link where you record your own sound clip. A simple program allows you to record your voice and directly upload it to the site. The instructions include a strict format, stating that the clip is a presentation from Porn for the Blind, and also the full URL where the porn preview can be found. They also ask that you use “only proper anatomical language (male, female, penis, vagina, breasts, etc.)” So no dirty talk.

One of the founders of the website claims, “We imagine that the visually impaired people benefit from this service in many of the same ways that non-visually impaired people benefit from the raw hard-core pornography that’s being described.” But he also admits that some users have asked for audio descriptions read by women in a “sexier voice.” The problem with this server is that the audio clips are heinously boring, and almost seem comical. The clips are read in monotonous tones, and provide only an objective narrative of the scene. To quote from one clip, “She unzips one of the boy’s pants and starts going down on him. Then they are naked… They are really genuinely enjoying themselves.” Do they really expect anyone to get hot and bothered by that?

While these descriptions may be useful for a visually impaired porn viewer who is wondering what the hell is going on amidst all the moaning, why not just cut to the chase and give the listeners an annotative descriptions accompanied with all the great sex scene noises? Another website, Alt Sex Stories Text Repository (www.asstr.org), also provides pornography for the visually impaired, except these audio clips are recorded almost as erotic plays. The mp3s on this site provide the same service as the “raw hard-core pornography” descriptions that the founder of Porn for the Blind was striving for. The site also provides textual descriptions that a text-to-speech program could interpret.

Unlike Porn for the Blind, ASSTR is not directly targeted at the visually impaired, and it doesn’t isolate them under any sort of handicap. Blind people’s sex drives are just as functional as anyone else’s, and they surely don’t need to be sheltered from the porn industry.

Very informative. Thank you. Personally, if the person is going to describe it by saying penis and vagina and the likes, I'd rather them just shut up so I can try to figure out for myself what's happening.

Post 19 by hi5 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Thursday, 04-Feb-2010 13:14:05

Has anyone ever gone there? Lol alot of it are idiots saying stupid crap, or describing things that normal people couldn't really enjoy, like two girls, one cup. Sometimes whatever they're describing isn't even real. Like the one about Elvis impersonators getting raped, or turkey fucking. Obviously there's no filtering or monitering going on there.

Post 20 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Thursday, 04-Feb-2010 13:27:49

I agree with SexySquirrel. (see post 9) Lol. Porn really isn't for me, but it sounds like good news for those who like it.

Post 21 by DevilishAnthony (Just go on and agree with me. You know you want to.) on Thursday, 04-Feb-2010 13:31:59

That site seams as though it's more or less making fun of it than anything.

Post 22 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Friday, 05-Feb-2010 7:33:04

Really? I've never thought of it that way.

Post 23 by Eleni21 (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Friday, 05-Feb-2010 12:35:44

I'd have to agree. there's a time for being proper and there's a time for being downright dirty. I don't think you'd hear "please put my penis into your mouth" or "spread your labia for me so I can stick my finger in your vagina" in a porn flick. It's a nice try, i'll admit, but watered down stuff isn't exactly treating us like we're equal.

Post 24 by SexySquirrel (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Sunday, 07-Feb-2010 20:35:08

They should band porn in the first place!

Post 25 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Monday, 08-Feb-2010 7:53:21

I think what they really should do is make the creation of accounts on porn sites manditory so that there might be some significance for implamenting an age limit.

Child pornography, has to go, and so should its founder, whomever that person is.

The only reason I can't agree with your most recent statement, Sexy Squirrel, that porn should be banned, is because some people do enjoy it, and if that's what they like, well, we really shouldn't stop them. I just don't like the fact that it pops up on your screen at the most random times when your search isn't even related. So, personally, I think that porn should be more strictly regulated.

As for porn for the blind, and more particularly, the site most of us have been talking about in this topic, I agree with Tiffanitsa. They don't water it down for sighted people, so why blind people?

Post 26 by Eleni21 (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Monday, 08-Feb-2010 17:34:31

While I full-heartedly support erotic art, including porn, erotic literature etc, I also fear that minors will be able to access it and utterly dispise, to the point of getting ill thinking of it, child pornography of any kind. I don't even like fictional stories involving anyone under age. I know that different countries have different age limits, and not all states in America have the same age, but still. I'm glad that the filters on search engines exist so that children don't see this stuff. I do think they should be taught about sex and safety but in a proper manner and at an age where they can at least grasp the concepts.

Post 27 by SexySquirrel (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Tuesday, 09-Feb-2010 21:38:08

Hi OceanDream,

You do have a point and I do agree with you.

I guess I just don't understand porn.

Thank you for your points on it.

Post 28 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Wednesday, 10-Feb-2010 8:16:57

I wouldn't say you don't understand porn, Sexy Squirrel, and I do agree that it is really over rated, especially lately, and the fact that so many people are targetting children with it, and that it is very loosely censored, is just sick. So, while I don't think that porn should be completely banned, I do think that they should make it more difficult to access. I know you can get a lot of family safety programs now that are supposed to block that stuff, but it doesn't block everything.

This is an interesting debate! I agree PornfortheBlind.org is a dreadful site, far too clinical and not at all sexy. I work for SonicErotica.com and we are gearing up for a relaunch soon, I’d be really interested to hear what kind of aural erotica/porn/all-round-sexiness would get people’s blood racing though!

Post 30 by Eleni21 (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Thursday, 22-Jul-2010 21:09:24

Oh wow! Now there's a site I don't know. I have to check it out!

sonicerotica.com ... God, I've been waiting to see updates from you guys for a couple of years now. Any idea when the new site will be launched?

Post 32 by cattleya (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Saturday, 24-Jul-2010 2:08:38

Ann Rice is Ann Racalore; (or however it is spelled), not ann mccaffree. Sorry, but had to correct that one. :)

Post 34 by squidwardqtentacles (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 26-Jul-2010 11:21:40

Soft core porn is one thing. I don't care. My own mother will tell you 'Playboy' is mild. I've accidentally, when I was new to the net, stumbled on nude photos of one particular female athlete I was looking up as I didn't realize that site showed nude pics until I clicked on. Even those photos, for European 'Playboy' were tame. Some college students make a little extra cash posing topless for the human form of art class...not a big deal, though it wouldn't be my first choice for a part time job for my daughter when she's old enough for that.

But I fail to see who gets anything at all...male, female, sighted or not out of porn with violent images, or human beings together in erotic poses, like the photos that took the crown fm Vanessa Williams. A long time ex boyfriend kept back issues of 'Hustler' and 'Penthouse', refusing to throw them away, saying I should consider myself lucky he wasn't seeing other girls. He had a violent past with a father who split open his mother's head & went to jail for domestic violence before that was considered a crime. I just fail to see whose lives this kind of 'erotic art' enriches.

Post 35 by cattleya (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Monday, 26-Jul-2010 12:06:13

IMO, extreme porn; (IE couples in erotic poses, masterbating, ETC), has nothing to do with violent tendencies unless it is violent porn; Violent porn is rape, S&M, ETC. And, even then there is the chance that the individual is not violent. I dated a guy that I found out he had violent porn; (rape), and I simply could not live with that. So, we split, but he was never violent toward me. Anyways, the original reason I went to post is to say this, again, IMO, but if people being interested in porn does not hurt you, why worry about it? I do not personally worry about what others do unless their actions effect me, the ones I love, and/or the innocent in our world; we have so little innocents left...And I personally intend on checking out the sites...Though anatomically correct descriptions do not sound exciting in any way!!!

Post 36 by margorp (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Monday, 26-Jul-2010 13:47:38

It all comes down to a person's fantacy.

Post 37 by guitargod1 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Monday, 26-Jul-2010 13:48:53

The porn for the blind site is dreadful. Even with erotic real world descriptions though, it wouldn't do anything for me. It's much sexier to hear oral sex, intercourse, and solo masturbation etc, than to hear some person describing it. I mean it's not hard to figure out what's going on just by sound. Unless there is awful music during the film. However, that is a whole other topic. While I'm on it though, music in porn is as much of a distraction as nnarration is, or would be. That, among other reasons, is why I try to stick to ameture stuff.
